SUMMER FESTIVAL
“From Shakespeare to ‘Little Red Riding Hood’,
through Dante, Pinocchio and Ovid, with a musical rendez-vous in
the high seas, various banquets, medieval dances and the fall of
Rome, here we are in our fifth edition of Teatri di Terra…”
from the ‘welcome notes’ TdT 2007
Our summer festival, Teatri di Terra (“Theatres
of Earth”), was born in 2003 in order to create a network
of theatrical relations in the territory, involving not just residents,
but also tourists interested in theatre.
In many years of touring throughout Europe, we have known very diverse
theatrical scenes. We like to invite these national and international
companies to perform here, in this way creating encounters with
local realities.
In fact, it is this dialogue between the familiar and
the unknown which we, puglian by adoption, feel in
a special position to promote.
Our festival presents to a very mixed public:
families, tourists, impassioned amateurs old and young, farmers
and intellectuals are welcome guests.
The shows which we select for them must be high quality
as well as accessible.
MOONFEST
An important part of our summer season is the Moonfest.
A nightlong fest, from sundown to sunrise,
dedicated to an encounter between nature, music, dance
and food, between artists and audience, between local
and international talent.
This is an event in which the spectator, wandering through a magical
landscape of stone and olive trees by moonlight, is brought to a
state of wonder, carried in a constant current of theatre and music,
of food and clowning, from the sundown apéritiv to the sunrise
croissant (accompanied by a string-quartet, naturally).
