InConTra (Transformation Together)

InConTra” is a project financed by the Ministry of Youth (nonprofit division), born of the collaboration between the cultural center Luna nel Pozzo and the Gabbiano association for Special Needs with the intention to use theater as an instrument of integration between special needs people, their families, and the community at large.

Weekend formativoThe two-year project is a voyage for 15 people with special needs and a team of 13 volunteers, who will collaborate onstage, creating a new theatrical production with the help of various professionals (director, scene and light designer, musicians and costumist).
This collaboration requires a high level of empathy: each must work in close contact with the others, striving to realize the common goal of artistic excellence. A protected space is essential for this work: one which nurtures the individual voice as well as a deep sense of group trust.

Besides the the artistic work involved in mounting a theatrical production, the project includes a summer camp (at the Luna nel Pozzo cultural center) in which the special needs and the volunteers can enjoy a creative vacation independent of their families, in a natural environment, where all the participants can develop their own autonomy. The summer camp offers time to relax and have fun, as well as time to prepare the upcoming theatrical production.

In order not to finish the work with a single presentation of the show, the project proposes a small tour– accompanied by a documentary film and a photo exhibition– with the intention of bringing the good word of the special gifts of special needs to other territories.

Buckle your seatbelt, the adventure has begun!

The InConTra project was realized, to great acclaim, from May 2015 to April 2017
